Lake School hosts first-ever Sports Night

The Lake School is set to host its first-ever Sports Night at the end of the month.

With over 450 students, Churnet View Middle School has a Department of Physical Education that prides itself on offering a complete and comprehensive curriculum covering many different sports.

Head of Physical Education, Ole Simpson said: “We are really excited to be hosting our first ever Sports Evening. We have pupils in our school, as well as in the Lake District who have a lot of athletic potential and hope that guiding them in the right direction to the local clubs will help the students enhance their athletic development, Especially with the physical, mental and social benefits.

“While we understand that our primary goal for pupils is to improve their education while they are in school, we would like to provide a pathway for students to participate in sports outside of school. We have some talented pupils who just need some guidance and a chance to shine!

“We feel this is a key element in understanding the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle that leads to lifelong participation in sporting activity. Many of our students are motivated, skilled and enthusiastic about sports and we feel that we would like to direct these children to a local sports club so that their learning can be further expanded.

“We hope to run an event similar to the university’s Freshman Fair, where each local club will be provided with a table they can promote their club and the possibility to enroll students or even provide more information that parents can take away. We have Leek Town FC, Leek Cricket Club and Leek Rugby Club already signed up. “.

The evening will take place on Thursday, May 26th between 6pm and 7:30pm.
